PSD application reduces sway movement cranes

A sensor which utilizes a PSD (Position Sensing Detector) is mounted on the bridge of a crane trolley. This sensor detects the x and y position of a beacon located on the hook of the spreader. Movement of the load is contained in the sensor’s output signal. Thanks to the fast response of the PSD it is possible to use the feedback in a sway reduction readjustment loop.
