Optical engineers and system developers continuously face the challenge of rapid changes in design and complexity of backlit components in the automotive, transportation, electronics and other industries. Improving the user interface through the use of modern LED and OLED components makes quality control more challenging for development teams and QA / QC personnel. Professionals benefit from (very) reliable and accessible instruments for optical tests and measurements: the GL OPTICAM measurement systems from GL Optic.
In this article you read about luminance measurement applications.
GL OPTICAM 2.0 4K TEC VS GL OPTICAM 3.0 4K TEC
GL OPTICAM 3.0 4K TEC
GL Optic introduces the GL OPTICAM 3.0 4K TEC for road and terrain lighting measurements according to the EN 13201: 2016 standard. With this system, measuring luminance distributions is no longer time-consuming, complex, labor-intensive and expensive. The OPTICAM 3.0 4K TEC completes a complete measurement of luminance distributions of the selected standard for road and terrain lighting in seconds.
The GL OPTICAM 3.0 4K TEC is the world’s first complete system fully adapted to field measurements. The system includes a TEC unit for thermal stabilization of the image sensor, which compensates for measurement errors due to changing temperature conditions. The hermetic housing (IP54) is designed for field work and is prepared for various weather conditions – even in the rain, without risk of camera damage. In addition, the system is battery powered.
Advantages:
- increased resolution (9 megapixel / 4k);
- immediately ready for use;
- very suitable for road and terrain lighting measurements (IP54);
- integrated V-lambda filter for human eye accuracy;
- thermal stabilization;
- spectrum and colorimetry combination measurement application with the GL Spectis 1.0 Touch.
Datasheet and specifications
GL OPTICAM 2.0 4K TEC
The GL OPTICAM 2.0 4K TEC is an imaging luminance measuring instrument specially designed to check both the conformity and the performance of lighting components of, among others, modern LED, OLED lighting devices.
The optical performance of displays, backlit buttons and instrument clusters require a reliable luminance test solution. With the OPTICAM 2.0, developers, designers and quality engineers are able to verify the uniformity of luminance, contrasts, luminance distribution and light leakage, including in R&D and production phases.
The GL OPTICAM 2.0 4K TEC is a high-resolution, lab performance optical camera system equipped with a 9 megapixel CMOS image sensor and a special V-Lambda correction filter that accurately adjusts the sensitivity (response) of the system to the sensitivity of the human eye. Depending on your luminance measurement, various high-quality lenses are available. The system features a unique RFID lens recognition system and image sensor thermal stabilization (TEC), which compensates for measurement errors due to changing temperature conditions.
Advantages:
- increased resolution (9 megapixel / 4k);
- immediately ready for use;
- integrated V-lambda filter for human eye accuracy;
- thermal stabilization;
- spectrum and colorimetry combination measurement application with the GL Spectis 1.0 Touch.
